During this time, McGhee became a staple on the blues-folk revival circuit, and accordingly these recordings find the Piedmont bluesman playing in a folk style, which he excelled at. Many of the most powerful tracks are straight from the rural Piedmont tradition, but the folkier material shows what a rich musician he was. It's an excellent sampler, one that demonstrates the depth and breadth of his Folkways recordings. ---Thom Owens, AllMusic Review</p> <p>download (mp3 @192 kbs):</p> <p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/ty30x3244ri1z6c/BrwnMcGh-TFY59.zip/file" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">yandex </a> <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/ty30x3244ri1z6c/BrwnMcGh-TFY59.zip/file" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">mediafire</a> <a href="https://ulozto.net/!HpMBILQAxxgL/brwnmcgh-tfy59-zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">ulozto </a> <a href="http://ge.tt/8DBgvir2" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">gett</a></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/javascript:history.back();">back</a></p> <p><strong>Brownie McGhee - The Folkways Years (1959)</strong></p> <p><img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Blues/BrownieMcGhee/folkways.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed. Although not quite in a class with McGhee's magnificent work with Sonny Terry in the 1950s and '60s, Truth is a consistently appealing date that unites him with such solid players as guitarist Louisana Red (who's also an excellent singer, though he doesn't sing here), harmonica player Sugar Blue and pianist Sammy Price. There is a lively, fun, and refreshing intimacy to these sides, as McGhee, accompanied by Bull City Red on washboard and occasional second guitar from Buddy Moss, delivers a set of folk blues filled with obvious joy. His first pairing with Terry on harmonica, "Workingman's Blues," is here, as well as tracks where Jordan Webb handles the harp duties. Brownie's recordings as Blind Boy Fuller #2 are here, as well as the first recordings pairing him with longtime future partner Sonny Terry. His work with washboard player Oh Red and the mysterious Jordan Webb playing harmonica is every bit as effective, though, and tracks like "Picking My Tomatoes" and "Born For Bad Luck" get this set off to a wonderful start; the musical quotient stays high all, the way to the end. Everything is pulled off of old, beat-up 78s, and the quality is up and down on every track, but this as fine an early Brownie McGhee set as you'll come across. --- Cub Koda, Rovi</p> <p>download: <a href="http://ul.to/zf09mbzu" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">uploaded </a> <a href="http://yadi.sk/d/_ff-Wx9BMrSLq" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">yandex </a> <a href="http://www.4shared.com/zip/9JTsfIrAba/BMG-NGB96.html" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">4shared </a> <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/download/vv3ok7za79o9nym/BMG-NGB96.zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">mediafire </a> <a href="http://www.solidfiles.com/d/c36fc79796/BMG-NGB96.zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">solidfiles</a> <a href="https://mega.co.nz/#!wJBUmBCT!fs9CiTuAdIRbvtV6YWnBN3XE28sOlWPMdJ3Q9DiaEMI" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">mega </a> <a href="http://zalivalka.ru/137210" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">zalivalka </a> <a href="http://filecloud.io/aiy802jb" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">filecloudio</a> <a href="http://downloads.ziddu.com/download/23699506/BMG-NGB96.zip.html" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">anonfiles </a> <a href="https://www.oboom.com/BYH62QCI/BMG-NGB96.zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">oboom </a> <a href="https://anonfiles.com/file/14b18a798cd3e42a547e90ab2c53779c" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">ziddu</a></p> <p><a href="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/javascript:history.back();">back</a></p> <p><strong>Brownie McGhee - Not Guilty Blues (1996)</strong></p> <p><img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Blues/BrownieMcGhee/notguiltyblues.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed. Brownie McGhee's death in 1996 represents an enormous and irreplaceable loss in the blues field. Although he had been semi-retired and suffering from stomach cancer, the guitarist was still the leading Piedmont-style bluesman on the planet, venerated worldwide for his prolific activities both on his own and with his longtime partner, the blind harpist Sonny Terry.Together, McGhee and Terry worked for decades in an acoustic folk-blues bag, singing ancient ditties like "John Henry" and "Pick a Bale of Cotton" for appreciative audiences worldwide. But McGhee was capable of a great deal more. Throughout the immediate postwar era, he cut electric blues and R&amp;B on the New York scene, even enjoying a huge R&amp;B hit in 1948 with "My Fault" for Savoy (Hal "Cornbread" Singer handled tenor sax duties on the 78).</p> <p>download (mp3 @320 kbs):</p> <p><a href="https://yadi.sk/d/OCE2uJi_VxE-vA" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">yandex </a> <a href="https://ulozto.net/file/We1RgbjH8W9d/bmg-tsotb94-zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">mediafire</a> <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/mi05u5lvggljgmi/BMG-TSoTB94.zip/file" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">ulozto </a> <a href="https://bayfiles.com/DeV761Z3o6/BMG-TSoTB94_zip" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'newwin','left=27,width=960,height=720,menubar=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,resizable=1');return false;">bayfiles</a></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/javascript:history.back();">back</a></p> <p><strong>Brownie McGhee – The Story Of The Blues (1994)</strong></p> <p><img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Blues/BrownieMcGhee/storyofblues.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed.
