Everything that makes Otis a unique master of his form is here to savor, from his passionate vocals to the shimmering finger vibrato he applies to the liquid tones of his Fender Stratocaster. While Rush has tackled some of this material on other outings, never has it been served up so passionately as it is here. Rush was born on 29 April 1934 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, and made his mark with his aggressive left-handed playing and impassioned vocals after moving to Chicago. He rose on the blues scene there alongside other new exponents of the ‘West Side’ style such as Buddy Guy, Magic Sam and Freddie King.

He recorded for Chess and Duke in the early 1960s, where his work continued to be heard and admired by the new British exponents of the blues, notably John Mayall, whose Bluesbreakers recorded ‘I Can’t Quit You Baby.’ That song also caught the ear of Page, and it became part of the first Led Zeppelin album, released in January 1969. Mayall’s band also recorded other key Rush songs including ‘Double Trouble,’ All Your Love’ and ‘So Many Roads.’

Ain't Enough Comin' In Otis RushAs the appetite of American audiences for blues declined, Rush toured extensively in Europe, often playing to college crowds and recording for such labels as Blue Horizon, Sonet, Bulldog and Alligator. Otis Rush's crunching guitar and vocals were never more emphatic than during the '70s when it seemed that he would actually find the pop attention and mass stardom he deserved. These mid-'70s tracks were originally cut for the Black and Blue label, with Rush playing grinding, relentless riffs and creating waves of sonic brilliance through creatively repeated motifs, jagged notes, and sustained lines and licks, while hollering, screaming, moaning, and wailing. Jimmy Dawkins, an outstanding lead artist in his own right, has also long been one of Chicago's great rhythm artists and shows it by adding plenty of tinkling, crackling figures and lines in the backgrounds. Blues Interaction - Live In Japan 1986 Is a 1986 live album by blues singer and guitarist Otis Rush. Recorded with local Japanese band Break Down, the album has been legitimately panned by many critics because of the backing band's rudimentary knowledge of blues music. Ironically, Rush has dual citizenship in the United States and Japan. His current wife is a native of the country. Originally the album was released in Japan only by P-Vine Records but was subsequently released in 1996 in the United Kingdom by Sequel Records.

Otis Rush has always been held in the highest esteem by blues fans and his fellow musicians. It's almost 40 years since the release of his first record "I Can't Quit You Baby", but his remains one of the truly original and moving blues voices. Similarly, although Ike Turner played most of the lead guitar on the original recordings of "All Your Love" and "Double Trouble", Otis' own guitar playing is as distinctive as it is impressive.

In a long career dogged by ill health and misfortune, Otis has always overcome his troubles and returned from periods of inac¬tivity with his abilities undiminished, if not improved. That was certainly the case with his recent album, "Ain't Enough Comin' In", and the tour which supported it. At the 1995 Annual W.C. Handy Blues Awards, Otis was voted 'Contemporary Male Blues Artist Of The Year' and "Ain't Enough Comin' In" was 'Blues Song Of The Year'. It may seem that awards and rewards are coming to Otis rather late in his career but they can only revitalise a man who still faces challenges with the vigour of a man half his age. Like his contemporary, Buddy Guy, Otis is a highly-skilled interpreter of the blues. Neither man is a prolific songwriter but, as "Ain't Enough Comin' In" proved, when Otis puts his mind to it, he knows he can deliver.

His broad interest in music came from listening to the radio while he was growing up in Philadelphia, Mississippi, where he was born on April 29, 1934. His first love was the music of Eddy Arnold and Bob Wills. Later, he would find an affinity with the work of Charles Brown, Louis Jordan and Ray Charles.

This album on the House of Blues label is a bit smoother and more slickly produced (by Rush and famed Memphis producer Willie Mitchell) than Rush's classic, rough-edged Chess recordings, but there's still plenty here to like. With a solid horn section backing him on most cuts, Rush gets ample room to show off his razor-sharp guitar chops. And his distinctive, emotionally charged voice remains a true blues treasure. This contemporary album by Otis Rush challenges the brilliance of his 1950s work for Cobra. Recorded in 1971 for Capitol but unissued until 1976, when the tiny Bullfrog label rescued the project, the album has Rush backed by a driving combo with three horns on searing revivals of "Tore Up" and "Natural Ball," a tortured "Your Turn to Cry," and the intense title track. Otis Rush is one of the greatest singers and guitarists in the history of the blues. "Right Place, Wrong Time" is his unmistakeable masterpiece, far surpassing the Cobra recordings, his initial reputation was built on, and setting a standard he unfortunately never quite reached again. Over ten songs (four of which are originals) he conveys a lifetime of sadness, pain and passion through his tasteful guitar playing and soulful singing. When he sings "they say there's someone for everybody/ Ooooh I wonder where in the world is the one for me," on the title track its the poetry of loneliness brought to life. The final song "Take a Look Behind" is one of the most moving songs about the regret over a life badly lived in all the blues. There isn't a dud on here though. Every track is a thing of beauty. I first bought this album on vinyl in the 80s and nearly wore it out. The CD I replaced it with continues to get plenty of air time on my home stereo. This album is a must have for fans of blues guitar, or just great blues music. Otis Rush is a force to reckoned with on this album, his guitar is alive in his hands and sings, squeals and grunts at times. His singing is powerful, and always tasteful. Right from the opening track his 'blue guitar' hits the mark and never waivers. All Your Love is well done, and I also loved that he did a version of Kenny Burrell's Chitlin's Con Carne !!! very cool !
