Roberto Cacciapaglia was born in Milan, Italy. He received his degree in music composition from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, under the direction of Bruno Bettinelli. While at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi he also studied orchestra direction and electronic music. He also has worked for the Department of Phonology at RAI (Italy's national television station) in Milan and has collaborated with the CNR (National Research Council) of Pisa, where he studied computer applications in the field of music.

Roberto Cacciapaglia is a prominent figure on the more innovative Italian music scene and a point of reference, in Italy and abroad, for his musical research between classical and experimental electronic and direction towards music without borders that goes beyond divisions. For some time he was involved in studying sacred music and dance, and for a number of years he has conducted a research effort that studies the powers of sound. His music draws inspiration from these experiences and passes through emotions rather than through traditional rules and structure.

His music compositions have been performed in various locations such as: Teatro Metastasio of Prato, Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Conservatorio of Milano, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Aterforum of Ferrara, Berliner Festspiele of Berlin, Festival of Tel Aviv, Festival of Campinas-Brasile, Passatge de la Pau-Barcellona, International Congresss of Anti-psychiatry-Paris, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arti of Montepulciano, Festival of Spoleto, Lingotto-Torino, Festival “Il Violino e la Selce”, “La Milanesiana”, Festival “Sconfinando”, Musica nei cieli, Duomo di Milano, Teatro San Carlo of Napoli, Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome, Teatro degli Arcimboldi of Milan. ---concerts.eventful.com

Roberto Cacciapaglia è nato a Milano.

Roberto Cacciapaglia & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Another beautiful and musically embracing album from my favourite post classical contemporary composer. Incredible piano compositions with the full Philharmonic orchestral sound. I play it over and over again and feel the music is incredibly uplifting. There are beautiful soprano accompaniments which compliment the music perfectly. All Cacciapaglia's music compositions are his own and have very modern classical feel. ---Keith Crompton, amazon.com

Ten directions in the Eastern cosmogony’s means "in all directions throughout space." These directions are the eight of the compass: east, south-east, south, southwest, west, north-west, north, north-east, plus the Nadir – below - and Zenith - at the top. These "Ten directions" are often matched to past, present and future to describe the set of all places – Ten Directions - and times - Three Times.

At any time and in any place there existed and exists a sound that awakens and resonates at a specific emotional state. A call that is heard and accepted by those who have been looking for it for a long time and in all directions.

While playing or composing, I take refuge in myself, directing the sound through the ten directions of space. Then, I cast my thoughts both in the internal direction, the inner self, and in the outer, the discovery and the meeting. The union of these two states arouses emotion, subtle matter that can be felt by those who are listening and are on the same frequency and in tune.

The journey of the thought begins from silence, and then, one key after another, it begins moving and traveling through the air like an arrow into space. The sound spreads without obstacles in ten directions, and resonates, crossing an invisible world of vibrations. It announces itself and enters the inner space. It reaches the ears, the hearing organ, and makes all of the other senses vibrate. It fascinates, it touches the nerve centre and pervades us. It meets and joins up with something that is already there, and it is welcomed as it had been expected all along. The sound releases itself, it radiates and spreads everywhere, and on its way back it creates contact points, and unexplained bridges, in a two-way process. It is an affecting and charming dimension because we recognize it, surprising and exciting us at the same time. As a light, it shines on hidden regions throughout our mind and heart, and reaches the heart of hearts of each of us. The listener and the player find themselves in a sensitive living and sharing condition that is the communion, the union of sound and spirit. It is Music away from make-believe and noise, which always dwells everywhere in the ten directions. ---robertocacciapaglia.com

Roberto Cacciapaglia’s album is a warmhearted collection of ballads, each accompanied by orchestra and, as a bonus, also performed for piano solo. There’s no doubt that Michael Nyman has an influence on Cacciapaglia, his “Nuvole di Luce” featuring a similar mix of modal folk flavors and contemporary harmonies. Soprano Nuria Rial adds a haunting quality to the stunning “Atlantico” and “How Long,” the latter akin to a gorgeous movie soundtrack. Subtle electronic effects add an otherworldly aspect to the start of “Seconda navigazione,” but never to the detriment of the purity of the sound. ---itunes.apple.com

His sheer body of work is awe-inspiring and Roberto Cacciapaglia amazes me with his mastery over classicism and modernism in compositions. This magnificent album is yet another feather in his cap. Its hard to single out each track here as all of them are masterpieces in their own right, but I'll try with a few :-) "Tema Celeste" has a brilliant cadence to it. "Oceano" with its intensely intricate melody and chord progression is fantastic. I loved the string section which is simply grand! The sweeping sound track quality of " Floating" left me breathless. The second half has lovely piano flourishes , almost like water rushing through rocks :-) The grand "Nuvole di luce" is a study in brilliant composing. A dramatic and high on melody track, this one stayed on my mind long after it got over :-) "Sarabanda" has a flowing and ever changing quality to its tune and has an enchanting vocal element to it which transcended this track to another sphere! Gorgeous!! :-) Roberto Cacciapaglia is a musical genius and his music is felt at a level deeper than one's consciousness. ---Ricky Kej, amazon.com

Roberto Cacciapaglia composed his suite Tree Of Life for the night show of the same name that took place during the Musica dell'Albero Della Vita Expo in Milan in 2015. The suite was released as an album during the same year. Produced in close collaboration with the composer, this exclusive folio features all of the tracks from the album arranged for solo Piano by Roberto Cacciapaglia himself. Watch ' Wild Side ' from the Tree Of Life , performed at the Musica dell'Albero Della Vita Expo.

---rockol.it
