Born the daughter of a German mother and a Liberian father, Pat Appleton had come to Germany to study politics, but she soon discovered that she could be a far better ambassador for music than for political affairs.

After numerous performances as the lead or background singer in various bands, and excursions into advertisement and film music, she joined the sound collective De-Phazz in 1998, where she supplies lyrics and lead vocals to this day.

With the track The Mambo Craze De-Phazz finally reached international acclaim. De-Phazz received two German Echo nominations and entered the Top Ten of the German charts with the album Daily Lama. The album Death by Chocolate remained in the Jazz charts for countless weeks. As one of the most important new voices of contemporary German Jazz, (German TV channel 3Sat), Pat Appleton tours the entire world with De-Phazz and not only works as a songwriter but also as a guest singer for other Bands i. e. Jazzkantine, Nighthawks, Airmate, Kurt Maloo. --- last.fm

Pat Appleton "sings like a goddess: purring, enticing, wonderful," says Germany's leading women's magazine Brigitte. Over the last few years, she has toured the entire world with De-Phazz and was labeled "one of the most important new voices of contemporary German Jazz" by German TV channel 3Sat. Now this amazing Berlin-based singer presents her stunning solo debut which abounds with refreshing pop jewels and soulful ballads. What's Next? has been produced in collaboration with some of Europe's most talented and respected producers. Stars like Gabin, Naoki Kenji, Flipside, Vienna D.C. and, obviously, De-Phazz have been delighted to dedicate their skills to this great but always modest diva. Executive Producer is Chris Zippel, a long-standing co-producer for the Pet Shop Boys, who has most recently contributed a track for Robbie Williams' album Rudebox. ---Editorial Reviews, amazon.com
