Inspired by the classic chansons of Serge Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, and Françoise Hardy, Les Passagers is the second album from French singer/songwriter Elise Pottier, aka Berry. Berry is a critically acclaimed French singer/songwriter whose jazz-inflected style of music is rooted deeply in the tradition of chanson française. Born Élise Pottier, she made her full-length album debut in 2008 with Mademoiselle on Mercury Records. A collaboration with composer/producer Manou, plus producers Lionel Dudognon and Erwin Autrique, Mademoiselle was critically acclaimed upon its release and was ultimately nominated for a 2009 Victoires de la Musique award in the category of Album Révélation de l'Année (i.e., Best Album by a New Artist). Berry is the performing name of Élise Pottier who made her artistic debut at sixteen in the theatre. She performed in several plays, notably "Les Femmes Savantes" directed by Béatrice Agenin. At the same time, she appeared in cabaret where she met Mano, a jazz composer. Together with Lionel Dudognon, they perform under the name of Berry, a reference to the region from which George Sand came. The first album called "Mademoiselle" was released in 2008, with the title track issued as a single as well as two other tracks entitled Le Bonheur and Demain, both well worth a listen. ---connaissances.blogspot.com
